Diabetic shoes are different from your department store shoes as they have more room in the toe box, are more durable/supportive, and provide better overall health of ones feet.  Under the Medicare Therapuetic Shoe bill, beneficiaries that qualify are allowed 1pr of diabetic shoes per year and up to 3 pr of diabetic insoles or a combination of diabetic insoles and shoe modifications
